Why unisex sizing trips people up
Most fan t-shirts, ours included, are sized unisex. A unisex pattern is straighter, with wider shoulders and no shaping at the waist. That is why a unisex S can feel bigger than the S you buy in a high street women's section, and why the label alone tells you very little.
Fitted and stretch pieces work differently. A fabric with a little elastane, such as 95% cotton and 5% elastane, hugs the body and recovers its shape, so it is far less forgiving if you size up and far more comfortable if you choose correctly. The rule is simple: oversized cuts can take a size of guesswork, fitted cuts cannot.
Three cuts, three different wardrobes
Before you fall for a design, decide which shape you will actually wear. Think of the tops you reach for most often right now and follow that instinct.
- Fitted tee: neat and close to the body. It looks polished with high-waisted jeans, tailored trousers, a pencil or slip skirt, and sits well under a blazer.
- Crop top: shows a little of the waist. Perfect with high-rise jeans, cargo trousers or a midi skirt, and great for concerts, festivals and summer evenings.
- Oversized tee: loose with dropped shoulders. Comfortable, easy to layer and the safest pick if it is a gift and you are not sure of the size.
How to find your size in five minutes
Grab a tee in the cut you are buying, the one that fits you exactly the way you like. Lay it flat, smooth it out and measure it. Then compare with the measurements on the product page: many of our pieces show them in centimetres in the product photos.
For a fitted or cropped stretch top, choose the size closest to your own tee and do not size up for comfort: the stretch takes care of that. For an oversized tee, your usual size gives a relaxed look and one size up gives a longer, slouchier one.
- Chest width, from armpit to armpit.
- Length, from the top of the shoulder to the hem. For crop tops this decides how much of the waist shows.
- Shoulder width, especially if you have broad shoulders or a small frame.
Outfits for the whole week
A BTS t-shirt does not have to be saved for fan events. With the right pieces around it, it works almost anywhere.
- Office: a fitted tee under a blazer with straight trousers and loafers. A small, subtle embroidery keeps it professional.
- Weekend: an oversized tee, a front tuck into wide jeans, white trainers and a crossbody bag.
- Date or dinner: a fitted crop top with a satin midi skirt and a cropped cardigan for later.
- Cold days: a fitted tee over a thin long-sleeve top, or an oversized one under a long coat with a scarf.
- Concert day: a crop top or tee with cargo trousers or a denim skirt, comfortable shoes and a light layer for the evening.
Choosing a design that feels like you
The most-worn fan tees are rarely the loudest. A lyric, a song title, a solo era or the initials of your bias are references other ARMY recognise straight away, while everyone else just sees a nice embroidered top. If you love bold pieces, go for it, but consider a quieter design for the tee you plan to wear every week.
Embroidery also changes the feel of a t-shirt. It adds texture, does not crack or fade like a print can, and makes a simple cotton tee look more considered.
