V Hoodie from BTS: Choosing a Taehyung Design You'll Actually Wear

5 min read

The best V hoodie is the one that matches the Taehyung you love: his name for a clear statement, a song like Rainy Days or Layover for a quieter reference, or Yeontan for the fan who loves his softer side. Decide how visible you want it to be, check the measurements in centimetres rather than the size label, and choose a warm cotton blend you can layer under a winter coat.

Hoodie or sweatshirt: what you are really looking for

Strictly speaking, a hoodie has a hood and a sweatshirt does not, but most people use the two words for the same thing: a soft, warm top with a design that says you are a V fan. Before choosing, think about how you will wear it.

A hood is cosy on its own, but it bunches up under a coat collar and can hide a design on the back. A sweatshirt without a hood layers more neatly under a jacket and leaves the neckline clean, which matters if the embroidery sits on the chest. If you mostly wear it outdoors in winter under a coat, the simpler shape is often the more practical one. Our V pieces are oversize sweatshirts, chosen exactly for that.

Start from the Taehyung you love

V has more sides than most idols, and fans usually have a favourite one. Picking the design is easier once you know which side you want to carry around:

  • The jazzy, late-night V of Layover, his first solo album from 2023, with songs like Rainy Days, Slow Dancing and Love Me Again.
  • The soft winter V of Winter Bear and Christmas Tree, which make him the BTS member many fans associate with the cold months.
  • Taehyung at home: Yeontan, the little Pomeranian who appeared so often in his posts and lives that ARMY see him as part of the family.
  • Simply Taehyung: his name or initials, for a fan who wants the bias to be clear from across the room.

Name, initials or song: how visible do you want it?

A big name across the chest is a statement, perfect for concerts, cinema screenings and fan events where you want to be recognised. Initials are halfway: KTH or THV mean nothing to most people and everything to ARMY. A song title or a small symbol is the most discreet of all, and it is the version you can wear to the office, to university or to a family lunch without anyone asking questions.

If the hoodie is a gift and you are unsure, ask yourself where the person spends most of their week. Someone who lives in fandom spaces will love the name. Someone who keeps their fan life a little private will wear a song reference far more often.

Getting the oversized fit right

Oversized is a cut, not a size. An oversize sweatshirt is designed to be roomy, with dropped shoulders and longer sleeves, so in most cases you take your usual size and get the relaxed look automatically. Going up one size makes it very loose, which some fans love with leggings or bike shorts and others find too much under a coat.

The safest method is to lay your favourite sweatshirt flat, measure it from armpit to armpit and from shoulder to hem, and compare those numbers with the measurements in the product photos. Two centimetres more or less in width are hard to notice; ten centimetres change the whole silhouette.

Styling it the V way

Taehyung is known for a retro, slightly vintage taste: wide trousers, long coats, soft colours and the odd unexpected detail. You do not need a stylist to borrow the mood. A few combinations that work with an oversize sweatshirt:

  • Wide-leg trousers or straight jeans, a long wool coat and simple boots, for the Layover look.
  • A shirt collar peeking out at the neckline, for a smarter version you can wear on a weekday.
  • A beanie and a scarf in grey, cream or forest green, colours that let the embroidery stand out.
  • A roomy bag across the body, for Christmas markets, trains and long days out.

Why embroidery suits a winter hoodie

A sweatshirt gets worn and washed a lot from October to March. Embroidery is stitched into the fabric, so it does not crack or peel the way some prints can after many washes, and it gives the design a slight relief that looks good up close. When you choose, zoom in on the photos: the stitches should be dense and even, the lettering clean, and the fabric flat around the design.

To keep it looking new, it usually helps to wash it inside out on a gentle cycle at a low temperature, skip the tumble dryer and dry it flat. That is general good practice for any embroidered garment.

Our V sweatshirts, embroidered in Italy

At Mima&Lulù⁷ we are two ARMY in Rome with an embroidery machine, and we design and embroider every piece ourselves, in Italy. Our designs are fanmade, inspired by BTS and not affiliated with BTS, HYBE or BigHit Music. All four come in sizes S to 2XL, and the sweatshirts are 50% cotton and 50% polyester.

Each piece is ready in about 7 days from payment confirmation, plus the courier time you choose at checkout. Shipping is free in Italy over €89 and in the European Union over €119, and there is no free shipping outside the EU. V turns 31 on Wednesday 30 December 2026, five days after Christmas, and couriers slow down in late December, so treat the end of November as your real deadline for either date.

  • Rainy days oversize sweatshirt, from €44.90: inspired by the opening track of Layover, for the fan who loves his quieter mood.
  • Taehyung oversize sweatshirt, from €44.90: his name, from our Bias Collection, the clearest way to wear him.
  • Yeontan oversize sweatshirt, from €44.90: for the fan who loves Taehyung at home, with measurements in centimetres in the photos.
  • Layover oversize sweatshirt or t-shirt, from €34.90: the t-shirt is 100% cotton, a good choice if you want a piece to wear under a cardigan too.
